tire "cupping"

Took my 2017 Niro in for service today and to have a noise detectd in front wheel checked out. Service manager explained the front tires are "cupping" because tires have not been rotated frequently enough. I'm concerned that there may be an issue with suspension. Any thoughts?

Try going to a tire store for straight talk, but you likely need an alignment.

Agreed, I took my Niro in for an unrelated checkup at 5,000 miles and my dealer put it on their alignment machine and showed me how bad it was from the factory. All 4 wheels were in the red. Kia offers one free alignment within 12 months / 12,000 miles so take advantage of that if you're still within that range though with a 2017 I suspect you are not. PSA in case anyone else reads this and is still within that range.

Thanks for the tip that Kia offers one free alignment within 12/mo/12k miles. Do you know if that is documented anywhere? I figure I better have proof or otherwise the dealer will want to charge me. No luck yet on a google search. I am due for service soon and might as well get a free alignment too.
Thank You.

Thanks for pointing that out, but your screenshots don't seem to be conveying your point.

I found this on page 6 of the warranty manual and I assume it's what you meant to post:

Adjustment Coverage
Service Adjustments are covered for the first 12
months/12,000 miles. Service adjustments means
minor repairs not usually associated with the
replacement of parts, such as wheel balance and
alignment, freeplay or tension adjustments of cables,
belts, levers and pedals, engine adjustments (idle
speed, etc.), body parts and fittings.

With that in mind, and in light of the fact that a handful of people have reported various alignment problems with front and rear tires, I think I'll ask my local dealer to check the alignment before my 12 months are up.

alignments are off on all new cars but mostly they are within the factory tolerance. with that note, my Niro Toe was really off and I felt/heard during the test drive. My assumption was correct when they adjusted both front and the back right Toes to factory range. it was off by huge margin in negative [pointing inward]. less tire noise as of this morning and hoping to improve 1-2 mpg with corrected alignment.

As a technician... if you DO get an alignment, ask for the "current" readout first, and see how much it's off. If they print off the "summary", which is just a sheet full of numbers where if you're not proficient in reading the values, it will mean nothing. Ask them to print "vehicle", that way you can get a visual aid as to where your wheels are sitting. If they do the alignment, and show you a printout and try to sell you "within spec", the difference between "within spec" and "dead center" could be as little as half a turn of the tie rod/eccentric cam. "Within spec" is lazy... "dead center" is pride in one's work. See to it they put it at "dead center". The photo is a typical example of "print vehicle".

Yes, I apologize for the confusion, I tried posting those screenshots from my phone and obviously something went horribly wrong. Glad you found the passage I was referring to.
