Not a hamster...

I Scuba Dive a lot and have a Ford Transit that I dive out of. Nice set up, even if I do say so myself. But now that I've moved to O'Brien in the middle of cave country, I wanted something a bit cheaper on gas to go get groceries. A good friend and fellow cave diver told me to check out the Soul, which I did this morning. However, I left in the Niro. What a cool car.

Yes, I want to be able to tow it behind the Transit.

Yes, I want to do light towing with it.

Can't wait to read about my options.

Enjoy your choice of cars.

As far as towing with it --- Manual says not recommended.

I talked to Customer Service as considered adding a trailer hitch for bicycle rack and maybe light trailer and I wondered if having a trailer hitch would cancel the warranty.

BTW, there is another thread on trailer hitches and where to get them - E Bay.

Customer Rep checked and came back with as I remember his words, 'Warranty would not be affected unless they determined the failure was caused by towing.'

He also said, 'Car is rated for XXX pounds (I think it is 800 LBS) of load and trailer load would be included in that.' So, add you and gear inside car 200 lb or more and trailer load is reduced to 600 or less.

As far as Towing it --- my guess is NO.

However, there may be a decoupling device to disconnect the front wheels from drive train. There are such for some cars as Motorhome travelers use them for their 'toad car'. My guess would be not one for NIRO as too new and not enough demand.

Also, another guess is you could tow it on a front wheel up dolly.
