2nd oil change today (Ottawa Canada). When I brought Niro in back early December for 1st oil change, I asked about the pressure test .. they had it listed on the set of recommended mtce items but at that time did not have the tool that could do the test. My deal here in ottawa now has that, test was performed today, no issues. And they installed the child-lock stickers.

Make sure to ask your dealer about it when you go in for mtce.

My car passed the hybrid motor check. Has anyone had one fail? Seems everyone reports passed.

Other than being annoyed at the dealer for taking hours for an oil change and the check, all is well (I get a free first and third oil change with them, but I canít imagine coming back here two more times just for one free oil change).

One, I knew about from the internet ... it's Tech Cause #170082 - Child Protector Rear Door Lock

The other is 'Tech Cause 170071 DE HEV Hybrid Drive Motor Leak Test and Replacement

The invoice said that my car passed so no replacement is necessary. Apparently they pressure test the cooling system for the hybrid drive motor.

Still, I couldn't find any info online for this issue at all!
We had the door handle break off and when in for that recall the Niro specialist in our dealership told me about THIS recall, it's a pressure test of the coolant reservoir for the electric motor, NOT the electric motor itself. They are plastic reservoirs very similar looking to the type used for break fluid, you can see it under the hood..........apparently some cracked and leaked the fluid, not sure what kind of condition that causes but suspect it would result in the electric motor overheating and if that happened I could see where they would replace the electric motor because overheating it probably would cause damage to the motor windings.
