I bought my 2018 Niro PHEV to replace my 2013 Ford Cmax Energi, also a PHEV. For the Energi, Torklift made a custom hitch that was no -drill, just used the muffler hanger bolts. Limit was 250# on tongue, 2000# tow. I only used it for a bike hitch and a hitch cargo box (the latter to regularly take home 160# of salt or gravel). My question is are there any no-drill hitches made for the PHEV Niro?

GWVR vs load capacity?

I'm concerned about warranty issues towing a trailer. My Yakima trailer loaded to capacity weighs 500 lbs. I can't find where folks are finding load capacity of 800 lbs, but specs have curb weight at 3400 lbs and GWVR at 4400 lbs. This suggests to me that as long as trailer, cargo, and all occupants (including driver) are less than 1000 lbs I should clearly be within specs.

Can anybody clarify where the 800 lb load capacity comes from?
