Audio USB Play

I'm looking at the Niro as my replacement for my Chevy Volt. I usually play my music directly
from a USB drive & was wondering if I can do this in the Niro?

Hi Hodad66, yes you can do this, we just took delivery on a Niro L trim (canadian base model) with the standard radio in it. I was ripping my wife's CD,s to USB flash drive, I ripped the original CD as highest quality Flac (8) to archive I was planning to burn some MP3s at 320. Thats the highest file compatibility according to the Kia Entertainment Manual. Anyway I copied some flacs and MP3s over to test in my daughters Mazda 3. Hers is high end radio and I wanted to see if I could notice a difference. There was a noticeable better sound with the Flac files.
Then I tried in Niro and it played both types of files, was very surprised the Stock radio played the Flacs anyway that saved me a ton of time as I don't have to convert them all to MP3 . Obviously the base speakers are not as good as the higher trim models with the Harmon system. But for us its fine.
I also test drove the highest trim and that system was very very good as a comparison.

Yes you can play from USB Flash Drive.
You can also install music(mp3) from flash drive to "My Music". It will be downloaded to vehicle, then you can access without having USB port in use.

Hi, its pretty measly less than 4 Gig as I recall, just my own feeling, I prefer to use a Mini USB stick so that the built in memory is not worn out by playing music. ( We have the base model L in canada FE for U.S. )

The software on our car is a Canadian version and I suspect is missing features found in higher trim model, which I was not aware of any difference when I researched before buying.

I also tried to reply yesterday but the post disapeared. Anyway the Base trim model Entertainment unit does play Flac files much to my surprise, in the manual it indicated no MP3's above 320 bitrate.
I also test drove the Top trim touring Model and the Harmon Kharmon sound system was very impressive, however i didn't try any USB music.

Manual says 6000 files or 700 MB
I uploaded about 200 mp3 songs without a problem.
