What I paid Touring w/advanced, mats, net, mudguards

Figured I would post my numbers to help others in their negotiations.

I bought a dark grey Touring w/advanced package, carpet mats, net, and added mud guards. I bought the first one they sold so you can negotiate. In a month or so I'm sure I could have paid less, but I needed the car. The more sought after cars will be the lower and middle trims not the Touring.

My equation to figure out price is [(Invoice-Holdback) X 3%-5% profit] minus (any other incentives you qualify for like military, uber, etc.) = your price plus taxes, etc. Use a taxes and fees calculator from your state's DMV cause sometimes the dealerships get creative. I originally offered out the door what I calculated was 3% profit. They countered $500 more, I said fine if they threw in the mudguards. I think they will make around 4% not including any manufacturer to dealer incentives they qualify for since I don't know what those are.

MSRP 32720
Invoice 30964
I Paid 31286 plus taxes, fees, etc.

Test drove touring with tech pack today. $29,650 base touring. Add tech pack $1900. $395 for white. Add $ for other accessories. $895 destination (IL). Plus taxes, fees, etc. Where did you find the invoice price; Internet? I'm really tossed of three colors (white, silver and gray). I like all for different reasons. The gray hides the black door guard better if you don't care for that part.

Do you think they would be willing to negotiate more now to get them on the road? Or wait until they have more inventory? They are not made in US so this could take some time.

Invoice I found on edmunds and costco.com and verified it was correct when I was at the dealership. I liked the white a lot, in fact it was my first choice, but in some scenarios it looked white pearl which I didn't like. The white has specks in the paint that's why it cost more. Ultimately I went with dark grey because they had it.

The touring isn't going to be the bestseller the middle and lower trims are so you can definitely negotiate. As the Ioniq makes its way into dealership, you will for sure be able to negotiate more. Within a couple of months when there is more stock you might be able to get them at or below invoice and in the summer there might be a 0 apr promotion. Hybrid sales are down and the fully loaded prius is actually cheaper out the door. So if they tell you there's a lot of demand, etc., stick to your numbers.

EX Base $25,700
Pear White $395
Sunroof and Advanced Tech Pkg $2300
Carpeted Floor Mats $130
Cargo Net $50
Mud Guards $95

$28,670 MSRP
Freight and Handling $895
$29,565
-$2000 Discount
$27,565

Trade on My 2010 Nissan Rogue (360 degree version)-- was about what I expected based on my looking up Kelly Bluebook for trade in value. They started at $6000 and went to $7500. (Retail was $10,500 -- would have been ahead to try and sell for anything over about $8200 -- have to pay tax on difference in trade and new car, so tax would be higher by say 9% of the $7500 had I sold it outright).

It was low mileage at 61K, and garage kept car driven by a couple 78 yr olds. It did have a scratch on rear bumper where i bumped it with my trailer. I had replaced front fender myself (bought one and had MACCO Paint it) to repair a small dent I put in the plastic bumper. It also had a CARFAX accident report from when a lady barely bumped my rear bumper - I took estimate from her insurance and did not fix (could not really see much - slight scratch buff mark)

Then there is Tax, Fees for registration to transfer (my plates to the new car), and a DANG Service Charge of $499 that I did not pay attention to before I got home. ALL I CAN SAY IS -- I did not bargain as hard as I usually do when trading as I thought close to a fair deal until I got home and saw the $499 charge. (Needed to pay closer attention).

I just loved the car, color, it was in stock, and I was like a kid in candy store (at 78 yr old) and bought it.

I was $500 off of what I wanted to pay. But since I bought one of the first 2 they got, I think that was fine.

Wow, I'm of the thinking, give me your price, everything included. Best offer from whatever dealer, for the car I want, wins. They can finagle you with BS better than you can do figures. That's why I say give me your best price, lowest gets my business.
