Deal Feb 11 in Knoxville, TN Area (Rusty Wallace)

Feb 11, 2017 @ Rusty Wallace KIA in Alcoa (just south of Knoxville, TN). I had posted this as a reply on another post -- decided to also post here with location (Knoxville, TN) as might help someone. I should point out that I did not bargain as hard as I usually do because (I don't know ?). I just loved the car, color, it was in stock, and I was like a kid in candy store at 78 yr old and bought it. Spend kids inheritance.

EX Base $25,700
Pear White $395
Sunroof and Advanced Tech Pkg $2300
Carpeted Floor Mats $130
Cargo Net $50
Mud Guards $95

$28,670 MSRP
Freight and Handling $895
$29,565
-$2000 Discount
$27,565

Spare Tire KIT was extra (online for $199 total include shipping - Dealer wanted $245 plus tax).

Trade on My 2010 Nissan Rogue (360 degree version)-- was about what I expected based on my looking up Kelly Bluebook for trade in value. They started at $6000 and went to $7500. (Retail was $10,500 -- would have been ahead to try and sell for anything over about $8200 -- have to pay tax on difference in trade and new car, so tax would be higher by say 9% of the $7500 had I sold it outright).

It was low mileage at 61K, and garage kept car driven by a couple 78 yr olds. It did have a scratch on rear bumper where i bumped it with my trailer. I had replaced front fender myself (bought one and had MACCO Paint it) to repair a small dent I put in the plastic bumper. It also had a CARFAX accident report from when a lady barely bumped my rear bumper - I took estimate from her insurance and did not fix (could not really see much - slight scratch buff mark)

Then there is Tax, Fees for registration to transfer (my plates to the new car), and a DANG Service Charge of $499 that I did not pay attention to before I got home. ALL I CAN SAY IS -- I did not bargain as hard as I usually do when trading as I thought close to a fair deal until I got home and saw the $499 charge. (Needed to pay closer attention).

Might add MPG on first fill up at 534 miles of travel) after filled up when new paid for by dealer at 65 miles.

So, 469 miles and 9.11 gallon = 51.49 MPG at less than 50MPH on mostly county roads and some in town (not a big city, but some traffic and stops).

So, basically ideal conditions for Hybrid VS HWY at 60 plus MPH.

Car computer showed mostly 52 to 55MPG during that 469 miles.

Did you install the mudguards yet? If so, can you post a picture please. And where did you order the spare tire kit from?

I thought Mud Guards you refer to were the ones on front fender -- they were installed on my car. Maybe I spoke of wrong Mud Guards.
You can sort of see Mud Flaps in the picture.

GOOGLE Search on KIA Spare Tire Kit - Includes items shown in the picture and fits neatly into where the present sealer and compressor are located (you take that assembly out and set the spare in there). The Spare Tire Kit is a KIA Part. Spare comes mounted on the rim.

Spare Tire Kits available on E - Bay and Amazon. The store selling on E-Bay and Amazon is OEM KIA Superstore.

I ended up directly at their store (website) and cheaper than E-Bay or Amazon by $10 to $20.

Very quick service -- They are in LeLand FL and I am in TN.

It does look like yours already had the mudguards installed, are they on the front and back? The dealer was going to order them for me but they don't have a part # yet so they gave me some all weather mats instead. Glad to see the mudguards aren't hurting mpg.

My bad --- thought no mud flaps on rear from the picture in last post.

I looked today --- there are mud flaps on rear (looks like on in front of rear tire and one behind).

See new picture taken with better light and close up.

As I said before -- came with them as option.

Just looked at sticker -- they were $95.00

My dealer in Las Vegas threw in spare tire at no charge, even gave me the compressor that came with car. I also get free car washes, window tint, smog tests, Nitrogen tire fills, loaner car for service work over 3 hours.. Nothing great, but every little bit helps.
That $499 service charge was a documentation fee. They tried it on me, it was $479. Had them remove it. It's a bullshit fee all dealers try to get away with.

I agree on the service charge thing --- Had I paid attention and saw that while still dealing (definitely would have tried for some more discount or to remove that).

Not saying I would have got it, but sure would have tried. I did not negotiate this car as I usually do -- guess I just wanted it.

I am out of pocket the $199 for spare tire kit and getting front door windows tinted Monday AM (another $75).

Second Fill Up at 1006 miles.

Fill up was for 472 miles and took 8.88 gallon (topped off the tank with a couple extra squirts) = 53.1 MPG

NOTE: Driving mostly below 45 or 50 MPH on county roads and some in town with a few stop lights and some traffic (Sevierville / Pigeon Forge / Seymour area of TN) . About ideal conditions for a Hybrid vs high speed highway travel.

Also, driving as easy as practical for safety (no jack rabbit starts and try to allow it to be on EV as much as possible).
