Purchased a new 2018 Kia Niro in Gravity Blue in November 2017 (car was ordered in). Within a month, we noticed a number of small paint chips all over the driver-side and hood. Mentioned this to the dealer, they did not seem concerned nor willing to make any repairs.
[For context, we primarily drive in the city to commute to work and home, car is covered while parked at home and work, not left to the elements for any extended amount of time.]
Over the course of the next four months, the paint continued to chip .There are now over 50 paint chips and they have extended to the roof and passenger-side.
We escalated this but unfortunately Kia Canada does not believe this is a warranty issue. Luckily, the dealer and Service Manager have been willing to work with us and are trying to come to an agreeable solution.
My biggest concern is that the paint will continue to chip off and that spot treating is not a long term solution to this problem. It seems to me that the paint did not harden properly or is defective in some way.
We love the car but this has been a stressful issue to deal with.
Has anyone else had paint issues? If so, what can be done?
