Model Confusion

Hello, So I live in Canada and in January I got a 2019 Niro PHEV SX.

I recently got my protection plan in the mail and noted that the car is listed as a Niro EX Premium, but I was under the impression I got the SX which was listed on my bill of sale. Note I have features like leather seats, rear heated seats, collision warning, nav ect...
I also checked my VIN online and it came up as a Niro Ex Premium...

Is this accurate for a Canadian model? I've been trying to find a Niro PHEV on local dealership websites to compare and see their VINS aswell, but they are all gone/sold out I think. Are they really that rare now?

I'm worried they sold me a EX priemium when I agreed to a SX price. Anyone have an idea about this?

thanks guys,

In the US we have a LX, EX, and Premium (and sometimes a touring) with Premium being highest level. Looking on the Canada website, they list the same models. Not sure what a SX is.

This is what comes up on the Canadian website

I did look at the US one, and the trims seem different which I thought was kind of odd.

Interesting. For the USA, the Kia website is still listing just LX, EX, and EX Premium for the PHEV flavor. SX continues to be a trim package that is only offered for the HEV flavor.

Your screenshot shows two PHEVs and labels one as an SX (at a higher price). So far as I can tell, that's still not an option in the USA.

FWIW, my USA 2018 PHEV EX Premium does not have rear heated seats, but does have the other features you mentioned. The MSRP for the 2019 USA EX Premium is currently showing up as (USD)$35200.

Perhaps you should check the features on the Kia website, make a note of what the more expensive Canadian SX has that the EX Premium doesn't have, and then look to see if you have those features.

Hi Michael, as we speak, There are only 15 EX Premium PHEV that has been delivered since february in all Canada.. So dont be worry.. with the discribed options that you have, you really own a real SX PHEV 2019 model. You will need to call Kia Canada customer care to resolve this "administrative" problem. What is the link that you went to check the NIV online ?

Now, for the US vs Canada Niro's trim name. US models have more option in trim level than Canadian models and are made on the same production cycle in Korea.

Exemple: for HEV trims:
The FE trim is only for USA,
The LX trim in the USA is the Canadian L trim,
The EX trim, is nearly having the options for the Canadian EX.(*)
The S Touring trim is only for USA
and finaly, the USA Touring is the SX Touring trim in Canada.

* (some options can be different in trim levels)

PHEV trims:
The LX trim is only for USA only
The EX trim is the EX Premium in Canada
The EX Premium in the USA is the SX trim in Canada

EV Trims:
There should be 2 trim levels for the USA and only the SX trim for Canada.

Hope it did not lost you!

Thanks everyone for the swift replies! As far as the VIN checker I used: autodna.com

Wow I didn't know the rarity of the PHEVs, the salesman wasn't lying to me about that I guess lol
