Well you all are stuck with me for another 2 years. I bit the bullet and signed off on a 2019. I hope it gives me another 158,000 miles of trouble free driving.
Don't forget you have to change the clutch fluid earlier in your new car! ROFLMAO/forum/images/KiaNiroForum/smilies/tango_face_devil.png/forum/images/KiaNiroForum/smilies/tango_face_grin.png
Naturally there 2019 will feel different than the 2017 so this may be an impossible question to answer but here goes...
Do you detect any initial difference in materials or quality between the 2017 & the 2019?
Not at all. If I didn't know the year of the car, I would say it was the same car. Obviously steering is tighter, car rides smoother, but your comparing 158,000 miles to zero miles.
My colleague with 2017 Touring noted my 2019 is smoother from standing start. He says his 2017 is jerky in low and stand still start. I told him about TB issued on August of 2018 ECU reflash may help so he will follow-up with the dealer during next service. Other than that, FE and LX is identical all three years and there have been some minor option/standard changes in EX/TouringS/Touring for 2019.
Day one in the new car is complete. Odometer now reads 400 even. So far averaged 53.6 mpg. Found one problem with the new car, the plastic backing on the driver's seat is loose and will not snap into place. Other than that, rides just like the last one. I haven't made it to the intersection in town here with an uphill and a right hand turn. My old car had a hard time finding the right mix of power and gearing on that hill. Looking forward to seeing if this car figures it out.

Day 2 and 3 saw less miles added to the odometer, but I finally made it to the intersection in town with the uphill and right hand turn. The new car definitely had a smoother take off at the stop sign. The first time it barely revved. The second time it revved a little but not like the old car. I will get a few hundred more miles added tomorrow.
I sure am slacking on the new Niro. Just flipped 4700 miles. It will be a month old next week. So I am a little behind in mileage compared to normal. It's hunting season so I knock off work early and go sit in a tree. Other than the flat tire, nothing to report. Avg fuel mileage for the first 10 tanks was 49.58 mpgs.
Im enjoying the 2019 niro is my first hybrid experience living out side of the city didnt help me much for gas milage being on highways and county roads have me at 38 mpg most the time but in the city's it will quickly get 51 mpg and fairly easily ..... I'm at 18000 miles but a trip from Colorado to the great lakes helped with that but still was a great ride this car is a weather killer I was impressed .... i hope for 175000 miles with out much issue that'd be great either way I have a good feeling it's something that will be around awhile I hope everyone else is having an enjoyable time happy holidays
Yourowner: It appears that you are putting a lot of miles on your 2019 Niro with 18,000 already.
Do you have a HEV or PHEV?
The way you're racking up the miles you may match or beat GBilly's mileage record! . Please keep us posted as on your the reliability or any problems on your Niro as the miles accumulate.
I'm still slacking a little behind my mileage pace of the 2017. I have 10 days left till I get the 2 month mark. I'm only at 8162 miles. I did fly to Florida for a week so obviously no miles added to the odometer. I did my first oil change tonight. Still want to cuss at the guy that puts the oil filter on in Korea. First off none of my oil wrenches fit the OEM filter. I struggled to get it free so I took off the majority of the undercarriage cover. I did find it odd that I drained 3.5 quarts of oil and added 4.0 quarts of oil. But as with the last dipstick you can't read it accurately anyway, so I will go with it is fine. Hope I don't get kicked out of the forum but I hate hate hate the new format. That's it for now.
Glad to hear your still trouble free. Surprised you don't like the new format. I'm usually the one that hates when companies change their website but I actually like this change...oh well.. that's what makes the world go round I guess LOL
My son just bought a 2019 barebones LX for his commute to Washington D.C. so he should be right behind you in mileage. It replaces his 180k. mi. Chevy Equionx
