You can take a look at the 2018 Niro now on KIA's site:

https://www.kia.com/us/en/build/niro/2018/trims?trim=115&model=739

First thing is now there is an EX Premium Package that pushes the price up to $34240. If you are going to spend that much money I think you'd be better off with the Touring Trim at $32,840
The lane departure system option is replaced by a lane keeping system that goes ahead and keeps you in your lane.
There is also an available Front and Rear Parking assist.

As far as the Plug-in version goes, they took down the Niro Plug-in with Coming Soon so I'm wondering if the Plug-in is just going to be for other markets for now.

Very interesting. They also added the Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror to the EX and Touring Model. It always amazed me that was not included on this Hi-Tech Car. Other than that and the Lane Assist, basically the same vehicle. Just about $400.00 more. I will be curious when it hits the lots.
Cool. Like the new Graphite edition I see that the tech package is standard on the touring now too
Wonder if there will be a software update to add the LKAS (Lane Keep Assist System) to the vehicles that have LDW (Lane Departure Warning)
These should be on the lots very soon. Let me tell you how I know this

I wanted to by a 2017 blue EX in Aug, however, the dealer didnt have one, and offered to order it. Unfortunately, the factory was into the 2018 production run, and they were unable to order it. The Kia regional manager called me and asked if I was willing to wait for the 2018 MY, and it would be 4 - 6 weeks (this was mid Aug) to have it delivered. I was not in a a hurry, and was fine with this.

Near the end of Sept, the rep called me with "bad news". The 2018 Niro's had been unloaded in Brunswick GA just before Irma hit, and the whole shipment was lost to port flooding (aprox 800 vehicles). My car was in this shipment.

She was able to reorder my Niro, and it arrived in the US on Oct 24th and is scheduled to be delivered to the dealer no later then Nov 2nd.

Something isn't right, the fully loaded EX premium with both packages is now 34,240 with destination and the touring is 32,840 with touring. The touring doesn't have any available packages so maybe the website is missing that, but from what I saw in the specs the only difference between the EX premium and ex touring is the rims.

It says there is now rear USB, led map lights (int he beginning the kia website said the 2017 had LED lights and it did not), lane keep assist, auto dimming rear view mirror.

I do like that the fully loaded EX premium seems to have the same things as the touring, w/o the bigger rims. Because the front parking sensor was important to me.
With Kia releasing the 2018 Niro's this early after a late (February) 2017 start-up, I am going to guess that they have made some internal tweaks to the car, (i.e. transmission, engine, brakes) that they are not advertising, but knew that the car needed. Otherwise why release the car this early. I am glad I have waited to purchase.
Did the starting prices/MSRPs for each trim go up at all?
Good to know they are adding auto dimming mirrors (I wonder is they have Homelink?)
That Touring Graphite special edition looks pretty sharp.
So if the Kia Niro EX with all packages is basically the Touring Edition, why wouldn't anyone wanting a fully loaded model get that assuming the EX still gets the better gas mileage at 51/46/49.

Also whats the deal with KIA making these special editions that are worse then the top of the line. 2017 Touring Launch Edition didn't have as many features as the regular Touring and now the cool looking 2018 Graphite Edition doesn't have as many features as the regular Touring.

2018 Metal Stream Touring w/ destination: $32,840

2018 Metal Stream EX w/premium and advanced tech packages, and destination $34,240

The MSRP on my 2017 touring w/carpet floor mats, cargo net, and destination was $32,625.
My local dealer sent me the KIA brochure that was sent to them by KIA which list all the differences between the models, What to talk about when trying to sell them and what to make sure you explain to the customer when they buy one (certain features).

Anyways based off the items listed, the only difference at all I show between the Touring and the EX Premium is the 18 inch wheels.

They also will now have Lane Keep Assist vs Lane Departure Warning.

They changed their build for the niro on the website. Basically fully loaded Niro with 16 inch wheel is a couple hundred less than a fully loaded Niro with 18in rims.

If I could have waited, I would have chosen the new loaded EX to get the better MPG's. Although the lane keep would concern me because my land departure warning goes off even when I'm driving straight down a lane and how will it react when you're forced to change lanes because of construction? It would seen really odd to have to put a turn signal on to avoid the car steering you back into a problem.
Actual difference between the Niro EX with Premium Package and Niro Touring is $550.00. Touring has 18" Michelin Primacy Tires and Alloys. Also for what it matters, Touring has standard Metal Niro Scuff Plates which are a $100.00 Option on the EX. It would be interesting what internal changes they made with the Niro overall.
^Auto dimming mirror and LED map lights are some new things.
What I was wondering with Internal changes was like transmission, engine and other minor tweaks that they are not letting the general public in on.
