I have an older phone with Android 6.0 and have to use Android Auto via a usb cord to my phone. I was told with newer a Android operating system (8.0 Oreo+) you could use Android Auto fully wireless via Bluetooth. Can anyone confirm?
Right now only Google phones like the Pixel or Nexus can do it, but supposedly some of the newer phones like the Galaxy 9 will get it "soon". I think it also needs the ability in the stereo itself as well because of the needed bandwidth. I am not sure if this is something that can be added via a firmware update or not.
