I am having a lot of sudden android auto re-connections these days: often Android auto will stop and restart. This is becoming a pain. People in the Kia EV6 forum also experienced it. Someone there reported success by tightening the internal cable that connects to the USB socket: Android Auto/Apple Car Play cutting out

Has someone tried to do the same on the Kia Niro, especially Kia Niro 2023 PHEV? It seems a different strategy is needed in the Niro to access the cables at the back.

Disconnects happened to me constantly, but after moving to wireless Android Auto (via a Motorola MA1), no more disconnects. I'm not suggesting that wireless is the only option - I'm just saying that the MA1 uses a very short and somewhat thicker cable. So you might trying using the shortest (6"?) and thickest cable you can find for your phone-to-car connection.

Sorry that I don't have an answer to your question about the internal cable!

I bought the highest quality 2ft USB cable from Amazon and all my issues went away.

Wireless Android auto unfortunately doesn't work for PHEV as the USB port gets powered when charging and it will prevent me from using Google maps, audio etc...
