Just had that happen to a friend 2 days ago when pulling into their parking spot. She pushed on brake and could not stop the car. The motor surged and only a building stopped the car. Is there any known thing that would cause this to happen? Waiting on collision report as to total damages sustained to car.

The "most known" thing is your friend pushed on the wrong pedal.
Ya I thought of that but she said she had been slmost stopped and it surged. Thats the only reason I thought it might be something other than driver error. We both have same car just different year and mine is a tourning pkg. I love my car. I know that there was a problem several years a go with a diferent brand that this happened to multiple cars and they had to do massive recalls but that was a supper long time ago and I truly don't remember what brands had the issue.

Don't new cars like our Niros have a data recorder similar to a flight data recorder on airplanes? Can a dealer hook up the car to their computer and tell the most recent control inputs? Saw it on NCIS:eek:

Yes, I believe that would be correct. Insurance companies like to access that data.

Just had that happen to a friend ...
Just for certainty, it was a 2023 Niro EV?
