I put my kayak in the rear hatch of my 2017 Niro and have to leave it open partially while transporting it. The problem is the chime is going off constantly is there any way to disable it while I'm transporting kayak?
The sensor is in the latch. You can fool the car into thinking that the rear hatch is closed by pressing the blade of a screw driver sideways into the latching mechanism on the bottom of the hatch door. Just remember to open the latch before you try to close the hatch.
Driving with the hatch open may cause cause exhaust fumes to enter the cabin (assuming that the ICE is running). A roof rack might be a safer solution.
