Just got my 2023 Niro PHEV EX. In the system information section, it shows that a OTA (Over The Air) update is "available" (see attached picture). But when I press the update button, it looks for media (as if it were expecting to see the update files on a USB stick). How exactly do you update the software on the 2023 Kia Niro to the latest version?

When you are home, have you connected your car to your home WiFi? That's the way such updates are currently handled by many manufacturers. I haven't heard of Kia being able to push an update via the telemetrics system, but it's certainly a possibility. I believe you are correct that it's looking for the update via a USB stick.
I couldn't remember if Kia had the ability to connect to WiFi. I've had two cars with that ability, but couldn't remember if my Niro also had it. Good to know that they do have the ability to use the telemetrics system for an OTA update.
