Kia is targeting a sales goal of 40,000 units worldwide this year with 18,000 domestic units and 20,000 units in the global market. Not sure what the exact sales date is for the Niro in Korea but it's said to be in the latter half of this year for the Europe and U.S. market.

Their target market are those in their 20s and 30s.

As long as they keep the price reasonable they should meet those numbers. I think a high-end model in the $25,000 range would beat all others and make it an excellent buy.

If Kia wants to hit that number, they should start selling them on the global market because it's already April unless they plan to sell a large bulk of it in Korea.

even if they cut out on some features that are more like luxuries than real needs while keeping price low, they'll still have a good advantage since there are always those people looking to spend the least in this segment, not caring much for all the bells and whistles, rather just what they really need, then everything else is just a bonus.

But Kia's target market are those in their 20s and 30s and right now they loot at those cool features on top of what a vehicle can do. You probably won't need the rear view mirror that also works as a rear camera display screen but things like heated seats, power seats, remote start are things people look for.

They will do what everyone else now does like putting remote start (which I want) in a package with a technology package which I don't care too much about. Or power seats with something I don't want like sunroof.

We'll have to wait and see what optional features are going to be available and how they're packaged. I don't like being forced to choose something like a comfort package just for one thing that costs less than the package price.

I'm hoping they model the standard features after what the Kia Optima hybrid has. Most of the necessary features are already included in the standard trim.

Unfortunately that's how it works, it's the only way they can make a solid business case out of it since those that really want certain features will pay for it, on something you're spending 5-figures for to last you at least 4-5 years, pushing to pay a bit more can go a long way.

It may be enough to push potential buyers to another model or manufacturer. Kia will need to price everything perfectly for the Niro if they want to hit their sales goal.

Maybe a large amount of features will come standard. There doesn't seem to be a lot of packages or options on the Korean build page so I assume most of what people are looking for comes with the Niro.

40,000 units isn't really that big of a deal. I'm sure they'll be able to get it done, Just not too sure if this is really meant for the market of 20s-30s .... I'm seeing possibly 30s-40s
