The Kia Niro is making its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show following its world debut in Chicago earlier this year. European sales are to begin in Q3.
The crossover-inspired hybrid combines a 105-horsepower 1.6-liter petrol GDI engine with a 44-hp electric motor and a 1.56-kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack. The system’s combined output stands at 141 hp (104 kW), channeled to the wheels through a 6-speed double-clutch transmission (6DCT), with a maximum 195 pound-feet (264 newton meteres) torque available in first gear. Kia says it’s targeting sub-89 grams per kilometer of CO2 emissions on combined cycle.
