Kia's Niro for SEMA

Some teasers shots have been shown of the Kia Niro that will be attending SEMA. Seems to be quite the intense build !

This is what they posted on their facebook page: “wanted to make a car as tough and versatile as a triathlete with the comfort of a day spa.”

End Results ! Personally not fond of this paint scheme.. Not really fond of anything on this to be honest. But I can see how it would be great to utilize for going on adventures.. ?

Too bad nothing like that would even come close to happening with a product from Hyundai. Instead what we will see in these next few years is people getting an entry-level truck like a Tacoma, Wrangler (2018), etc. where they can haul bikes, and all the typical gear someone would want to carry similar to what we see here.
I don't like it and if you're a triathlete who needs to haul around a lot of tools and a bike, you may as well get a ute pickup. The LED lights in the front are a nice touch but that's pretty much it.
I still think there would have been a better way to execute those led lights in the front though lol, they really stick out which bothers me.

The steering wheel thing does seem to elude me though... anyone have any idea ?

But overall this is a utilitarian themed niro. It's like building a Wrangler with an off road theme; throwing on big tires, lift kit, etc. and not wanting flood lights to be seen or be stealthy to the point its not the first thing you see.

Ahh that is true. That hood scoop does seem excessive though :|
As far as what I want from this on a production level, having some cool stitching like in the picture below on some sport trim will go a long way in generation a premium detailed feel and that definitely won't be too much to ask for:

The different color stitching should definitely be in every sport trim as it's become more an industry norm. It adds that sporty-race like feeling to interiors I find. Especially when paired with a steering wheel that shares the same stitching.
Exactly. It's the least they can do and I believe its one of the easiest things to do with attention to detail. Just about everything else requires more effort, money and resources. I think Mazda/Scion did something similar which acts as a good example to what i'm talking about.
Just thought about this.. with the Kia GT being the flagship for kia, it could mean we see things from the concept trickle down as far as the Niro, but of course every segment it goes down it starts to thin out. Still, it leaves us open to getting simple things like cool stitching, etc.

There definitely are aspects of this that could trickle down such as steering wheel design, maybe even gauge cluster design. The stitching is more than likely, and we could potentially see a push start button positioned in a sporty place ?
