My new used 2020 Niro EX Premium has safety recall #SC258

We bought the car 2/15/23 and today I received a CARFAX report from the selling dealer stating that there is a safety recall for leaking coolant which may cause the car to stop. We have an appointment for service at a Kia dealer 3/2. Should I drive it? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I would check myself go to the website above
I did. it's recall number SCV899, NHTSA recall number 22V899, Recall Status: Recall Incomplete, mfg. note SC258. were taking it to a Kia dealer for service soon.
I only ask because I have 2020 Kia Niro EV Premium also mine was not affected by the recall. It’s a great Car had mine going on three years.
I liked the car before I found out about the recall. I hope they can fix it.
I would not worry to much about your vehicle might not need it replaced this is what Kia is recalling your vehicle for;
certain 2020 Niro EV vehicles. The Electric Power Control Unit (EPCU) may have been improperly sealed and may leak coolant internally, if your coolant levels have not changed since you purchased the vehicle than it just a precautionary measure, for Kia to make sure it is not leaking coolant because your Traction battery is sealed you will not see any coolant on the ground under your vehicle.
It’s very unlikely your car will actually have this fault.

So far the warning light hasn't come on. We have our first service appointment later this week. I love the car, it is just the right for me because of the way it drives and size wise. I was driving a BMX X-3 which now feels too big and clunky. We call her Eevee.
I'd be surprised if any of the 800 approx examples affected will be found defective. It's just a missing QA step that they are obligated to check because it could in-theory be dangerous if the car suddenly stopped on a highway.
Helpful discussion.. Question for KiwiME (or anyone who might know)
What does this mean? It's just a missing QA step that they are obligated to check because it could in-theory be dangerous if the car suddenly stopped on a highway.
I bought my 2019 Niro EV (premium one EX, LX, whatever) new- and so far I love it.
Last month, on the first leg of a month-long trip, it started making a ticking noise. The noise speeds/slows with car speed.
I took it to out of town dealer on my road trip & was told a/c condenser(?) needs to be replaced. Out of town dealer was not able to repair, because the part is on back order.
Now I'm back in town & have appt with my local dealer soon.
ps - No warning light..
Thanks in advance!
It means that in production the normal checking of the gasket application was missed. QA = Quality Assurance. If a leak allowed coolant into the inverter electronics the car would suddenly lose motor power, that why it's a recall and not just a TSB.

Post a new thread on what the "ticking noise" turns out to be once you have that appointment since it's unlikely to be related to this thread.
