New Niro EX Premium owner

Finally have my Niro EX Premium. Took a month to find it but it was worth the wait.
Had a 2016 Prius V and the Niro is far better. Not a fan of the UVO system but Android Auto makes up for it.
Interesting note, when I told my insurance company what I bought, my premium was cheaper. Not a whole lot but enough to make me smile.

Technically a smaller car than the V. Smaller cars can cause less damage in an accident, so lower premiums.

Great news.!... mine too was hard to find. Delaer has to drive 600 km (372 miles) on a flatbed from Toronto to Montreal Canada to get it.. its in the progress of the PDI as we speak and delevery will be next week! :)

For the insurance cost.. same thing, it's 23$ less than my 2013 Rio5 Lx+ for 2018..
New EX Premium ordered

I wanted a Silver EX Premium. Only one i could find was in Kansas. I’m in California. I ordered one from the factory through Capitol Kia in San Jose. Expected delivery is 5/25, a 5 week wait. Hope it arrives on schedule.

We also just got our new Niro EX 2018, and our insurance premium went down as well, our insurance company said it was because it was a hybrid, and it is their way to encourage better fuel economy and less pollution. Indeed something to make you smile.

Congrats! Did you make the deal prior to submitting the order? If so, can you share any details on the price, please?

What do you prefer about the Niro as opposed to Prius V? I have been thinking about test-driving a V
I believe the V has been discontinued. So one thing to like is it's available. Another is that it costs less. Also better looking, although the V is not as ugly as the current liftback or Prime.

I'm a volunteer driver for my local Senior Citizen's center and they have V's. Interesting swapping back and forth. Visibility is better in the V, and the backup camera is way better. Controls are a bit of a mystery, and the HVAC systems on apparently all new cars are not user friendly. Niro handles better.

I went in to the local Kia dealer and told them what I was looking for. They didn't have one on the lot and didn't really know if they were going to get a EX Premium in. I told them about one I saw at another dealer about 125 miles away. They said "don't you want to buy local?" They told me they could get it from them and make a deal on it.
Sticker price was $32,620.00. They took $2,000 off of that price with discounts and rebates. They quoted me KBB trade in price on my 2016 Prius V. I talked them into giving me an additional $600.00 on the trade in.
To make a long story short, they couldn't get that car from the dealer. (That dealer told them it was on hold for someone). They found another one 250 miles away and said they could get that one for me at the same price but it was in transit to the dealer and the price would be the same.
They came through on their promise - took about a month for the deal to go through but I am now an owner of EX Premium. :)

They discontinued the V but there is talk of a replacement in '19. Not sure what they will call it....
The cruise is a lot better than the V. The V would vary up and down hill by 5mph or better. The Niro holds the speed better/tighter.
I know this isn't an apple to apple comparison, but the sound system is superior in the Niro. For some reason on the V the rear speakers barely put out any sound. Toyota said it was by design. There is a YouTube video and many complaints about that. Also the Niro handles better. That being said, I do miss my phone messages not popping up on the screen when I receive one. The V would show the message and even read it to you. (The V was a 3)
Overall, the feel and handling I think is better on the Niro. The 2016 V was the second Prius I owned. My previous one was a 2012 but it wasn't a V.
The gas mileage is better on the Niro. I drove 251 miles today and averaged 46.5 mpg. Not bad for doing 74mph on the highway. The screen showed it as 47.7 mpg but I filled up before and after and calculated the gallons used by the mileage driven.
My V would do 42mpg at best.
