Niro Touring. When I turn left into my driveway, as I go up over the small curb, I hear what sounds like something banging in the passenger dash area. It is a bang wait bang sound. It kinds sounds like something sliding and then hitting something. I know the seat belts "clang" against the interior sometimes (a plastic on plastic sound) this is a bit louder and not metallic. I've emptied out the glovebox, it still happens. It even happens when turning left and going over the bump slowly, usually not turning right.

Makes me wonder if something in the ventilation system is loose, but thought I'd ask if anyone else has heard a similar noise from that area? I'll take it in but figured asking around before hand can't hurt.

This sounds like a loose suspension mount. I would have your dealer take a look the strut mound our the steering tie rod

Wow...that's a very good vid describing your problem. I don't have any suggestions ... other than the suspension slack that mrjirey mentioned. Good luck with it and when you manage to track it down, would you kindly post the fix here? You never know, it might help out other owners.

The solution was embarrassing. Seems the one thing I didn't take out of the car were the sunglasses in the overhead console. When placed in the console one way, they are quiet but if I flip them around, then I get that "clunk" sound. Never in a million years would that have occurred to me.

FUNNY now that it is resolved.

That overhead console is near useless the way the door is designed with the cut out. Tried to keep wife's sunglasses up there and the garage door controller. Stuff kept falling out.

I used Gorrila Tape (like a duct tape) and taped across the cutout on the door. Then taped the garage door opener in there (so you can hit the button on it to open the garage door).

PaulRides- that was funny, thanks for posting. It wasn't embarrassing, it was being attentive, then honest. I was just about to post that the sound was strange but didn't sound serious, when I saw your last post. With the sunglasses holder, I actually like the design, wife has similar in her older Hyundai Sonata. It's made I think so the sunglasses almost pop out when opened, the cut out so youre not fishing around or trying to dig out. I can get sunglasses out while driving, without taking my eyes off the road.

This is kinda funny, but it's good that your new car is ok. I was going to write something about suspension, my old car was making precisely this kind of noise in similar situation and it showed up that a part of the spring broke and remained there, making a noise when going over curbs.
