Paddle Question

386 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Mi3ke
Left/Right paddle question for my '23 HEV. I use the left paddle to "brake" the car and the right one to remove the braking effect. If the "gauge" (for lack of a better term) is reset to "zero" and I hold the right paddle in place the "hold" button comes on (turns green). What is happening here. Am I engaging something that is impacting my performance or is it just letting me know, since my car is back to "zero" that it is ready for a later action if necessary?

What 'gauge'? Holding the right paddle will turn on / off smart regenerative braking.
Gage = the 1,2,3,4 level of regenerate braking. If I right paddle click then it steps it down, eventually to off. If I right paddle with nothing to release, something happens, I just don't know what.
As I said, a long hold of the right paddle turns on smart regen braking. Another long hold turns it off. It will turn off every time you stop the car.

I drive a 2023 EV, not sure if it's the same... the re-gen braking/coasting is always active, and the iPaddles +/- just adjust the sensitivity, which you can feel when coasting.

Correct and a long hold on the right paddle sets the smart regen braking as explained above
Recently, I discovered that tapping the left paddle sets regenerative braking to level 1, 2, or 3. Holding it generates Max braking, which if held to a complete stop sets auto brake hold. I have stopped using the right paddle at all, and for most braking situations I hold the left paddle, using the brake pedal to control the last 20 feet or so to a complete stop. If the brake pedal is engaged before the left paddle, auto brake hold will not be set.
You can also hold the + iPaddle in it will apply full force until released or until you come to a stop.
Thanks for all the replys. i understand what is happening now.

Cheers, Mi3ke
