Hello all,

What would you guys recommend for OBDII Tools to clear faults on Niro Hybrid?

The one I found is https://kiaspecialtools.com/Catalog/Product/GDSM-CPKITK

This tool will clear faults and provide information about the fault. However, it's highly expensive just to clearing fault that you might easily go to AutoZone/ Advanced Auto Parts just to clear the fault.

I also bought this one and going to return back because it doesn't detect the Niro

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UJV3EA8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Any idea for the tools?

I got a Konnwei ELM327 on eBay that I used on my old Mustang. It is a little brick unit that plugs into the port and then uses Bluetooth to connect to my smartphone. It seemed to work well, though the repair should and I never did figure out the error. 'Sold the Mustang so now don't care.

I think I still search for better OBD Scanner. At least, it can do an oil service light reset and EPB functions, plus clear out the faults. I know the ELM327 can clear out the faults through PID.

I also use this one

https://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-425801-OBDLink-USB-Professional/dp/B005ZWM0R4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1533271765&sr=8-3&keywords=obd2+scan+usb

It turns out great with OBDWiz and I was able to clear out the faults. However, it needs a laptop to connect and found out there are 6 ECU's on Niro.

I'm pretty sure the ELM327 is the chipset on my scanner. I'm sure the $5,000 scanner is better of course, able to change dealer only settings. Might be a good reason shop rates are so high.

It's been plugged in 24/7 since I got it, no battery issues!

Geeze, I really DISLIKE/HATE the short time to edit your own generated post thing, it should be available to edit any time/any where..
