Glad your ok, that's the most important thing. I hope your dealing with the other persons insurance company and not your own since he caused the accident. If you deal with your company it will show up as a "claim" on your records even though your company will subrogate it to their insurance. What ever don't let emotion cloud your judgement. From the pics it looks like maybe your gonna have rear suspension damage and maybe ever structural damage. Hopefully they will total it and you can get a new car. If your friendly with a Kia dealer maybe they can help you making sure your get the correct number for your car. Don't wait for the insurance company bug the **** out of them for action. They should be paying for a rental (your might be still making payments on your car that your denied use of due to the other guys negligence, you need to go to work and to the doctor to get checked out, keep mentioning that). If it gets fixed make sure your the one that can choose a body shop. Make sure you get a good one. Good luck.

I should have also added.....If you get any kind of push back from the insurance company consult a GOOD lawyer. Unfortunately in this day and age it seems you need lawyers for everything to protect your interests. Remember personal injury means more than just physical, your also injured personally in other ways like your pocketbook and other things that may have escaped your train of thought.

I've asked, and without the front bumper/grill and one other part, the car is not driveable. No temporary fix available. The problem is they have the receptionist as the only person available/tasked trying to source the parts, and the reptionist is multitasked among multiple customers, insurance companies, and other priorities (i.e. taking calls, attending meetings, etc.), and has not had a chance/time to look for my parts in the past week. Totally unacceptable, but when I talk to them, they say there's nothing they can do, and will get to it when they can. A lot of shouting/yelling going on; seems like crisis management. I'm definitely not going back there again.
I guess this is a case where the manager hides in his office? Maybe you suggest to the owner that the receptionist be made the manager since he/she seems to be doing the managers job anyway.

No. The HEV has the traction battery under the rear seat. The PHEV has the battery in the back, down where traditional cars kept a spare tire, under the rear floor panel. The EV has the battery back under the passenger compartment floor, which covers the front and back seat areas.
Yeah that's what I always thought but post #37 above says it's moved to the engine compartment for 2023. That shocks me? I can't find a diagram for 2023.

Yes that should be the inverter. Looks different than my 2018 though, I'll have to look in the morning. Should be the inverter though since it has it's own cooling lines. The inverter and the ICE have two separate cooling systems hence the 2 bottles. The HV battery just gets cooled by air.

Thanks for the clarification. My first car had a 4-speed stick shift, carburetors, distributor, and a manual spark advance dial on the dashboard. Things have changed a lot.
LOL tell me about it. The only reason I know a little bit about hybrids is because I bought a Prius back in 04. It was the first new car I got that was a groundbreaking car so I studied it alot and PriusChat was like this, full of info. When I was young everybody was trying to get a few more horsepower out of their Mustangs, Camaros now old the old guys like me are trying to eek out a few more mpg's out of their hybrids lol

I forgot about starter button on the floor!!! How about the dimmer switch on the floor. Anybody remember what year they started moving the dimmer switch to the turn signal stalk?

Trying to think of the cars I owned back then. I know my 1980 Rabbit diesel had the turn signal stalk switch, but that was a European design, so might be ahead of US designs. My '84 Dodge 600 had it, so early 80s at the minimum. I didn't own anything that was built between 1972 and 1980, so useless memory there. Come to think of it, I had a 1975 Dodge Colt (Japanese car) and it was on the stalk. So I'm going with mid-late '70s when the move happened.
I bet your right. I had a 1970 Duster then a 1976 Volare RoadRunner but I can't remember if they had the button on the floor or not. I loved that Roadrunner the horn went beep beep doesn't take much for me I guess.

Well at least that's a little progress. I would keep after the claims person assigned to your case. I don't think the adjuster has the power to total your car. A rental for 6 weeks will really add up quick and if they don't provide one to you that would be the final straw for me to get a lawyer. Somehow make sure they know that.

Didn’t the police determine who owned the tire? Hopefully some of the others identified the owner who I’d expect is culpable for damages. it sounds liken you were close to home when this happened which is better than 100s of miles away. The local police should help you mitigate your damage costs.
Also perhaps the cops have access to traffic cameras up ahead of the incident to see if the offending truck pulled over or other evidence of the offending truck?

Glad it was a favorable outcome for you. I think in the long run it will be the best for you. Timing might just be on your side. I think things are just starting to free up with availability and some dealers are just starting to go back to dealing just a little.
