Roof Rack

7784 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Oldadmark
I'm bringing my daughter home from college next month and am a little worried about my Niro being able to fit all her stuff in. I don't want to spend a ton of money but saw the Yakima soft roof cargo "bag." Anyone have any knowledge or experience about this? Thanks!

Just two of you will be in the car? You can put a lot of stuff in the back. You could also have her mail a lot of stuff home now, books and media especially with great rates at the PO. Anything that can fit in a soft pack will fit in odd spaces inside the car, especially if you will be bringing back furniture (most should not be brought home though).
Do you already have the roof bars or do you have to purchase that too? Would add into the overall cost if you need the roof bars on top of the cargo piece.
I just ordered a set from Micksgarage.com $105.

They should be here very soon, I will update with a review when I get them.
They are a much better price than the dealer wanted!!

Here are a couple of links about roof racks from your fellow Kia Forum members!!

The only issue I have with the bars is that the side cover that locks does not cover the the hold down clamp. Someone could just come along and pry it up. Then again, the covers are plastic and could just be pried off.
On this issue of items on the roof: My wife will be driving from MD to FL for vacation. Not all items will fit in the car (KIA Niro Plug-in). We have a Tahoe Soft Pack that we want to put on the roof. Anyone have experience using one of these? Strapping? Weight?
