I would think you could simply rotate it back. Might take a healthy tug, and I can understand about being cautious. It will either move back where it belongs, or you'll have to replace it. Don't really have much to lose attempting to rotate it. Even if it breaks, you would have had to replace it anyway.
I agree. Sometimes force is the right answer. By forcing it, you shouldn’t be able to break anything else that would be replaced with a new mirror assembly. So you have nothing to loose. Just don’t use anything to pry on it besides your hands.
