I have a 2017 Niro Touring with 41k. When this issue started my car hadn't been driven for 4 days or so. At 11pm my car alarm started going off, I went outside and turned it off. I assumed it was from rain or something. Who knows, as it's never done it before. I turned it off and 5 mins later it went off again. After this happened several times I realized that the trunk light showed open even when it was clearly closed. Nothing is blocking it. I even manually opened it with the emergency released but that didn't resolve the issue.
Several days before this happened Texas had an obscene amount of rain in a very short period of time. I had a Fiat prior to this car and after a TON of rain my back hatch wouldn't open. Anyway, I thought maybe it was rain again even though nothing was wet in the car. It's now been 4 days and it still shows open. So I can't lock my car bc the alarm will go off. Thankfully, I have a 12ft fence and gate that I park behind so I don't worry about it at the house but I need to able to lock my car when I'm not at home. Any ideas?
