Nia’s new compact crossover is now on sale in the UK and the Niro starts at £21,295. The Niro will be available in four trims badged 1, 2, 3 and First Edition but, the powertrain remains the same throughout the lineup.

As the badge suggests, 1 is the base trim with a MSRP of £21,295 ($28,206) and the standard package comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs and taillights, Android Auto, DAB Radio, 3.5-inch TFT cluster, USB, AUX, dual-zone automatic air-con, cruise control, speed limiter, Hill Start Assist and Lane Keep Assist.

One level up is the Grade 2, for an additional £1,500 ($1,987) you’ll get a few more features including high-gloss trim highlights, black cloth and leather upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter, 7-inch touchscreen, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, electrically-adjustable, heated and folding side mirrors with LED indicators, privacy glass, roof rails and chrome door handles.

Then there’s Grade 3 which goes for £23,695 ($31,385). For that price, you’ll be getting an 8-inch touchscreen, premium sound system, wireless mobile phone charger, black leather upholstery, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, stainless scuff sill plates and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Last is the 2017 Kia Niro First Edition which will cost you at least £26,995 ($35,756). The Frist Edition will come with grey leather trim, white interior trim inserts, heated outer rear seats, ventilated front seats, smart key, engine start/stop button, electric tilting and sliding sunroof, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Smart Cruise Control.

No matter which trim you pick, they will all come with the same 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine and electric motor for a combined 139 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed double-clutch automatic transmission and the Niro will have a combined fuel economy of 74.3mpg.

The official Kia UK site has not yet opened up the Niro configuration page but you can probably put in an order at your dealership.

I think the 3rd trim may be the one for me since I am a fan of larger displays and it comes with an 8-inch touchscreen. Really depends on the prices and if I can get some sort of gov't incentive since it's a hybrid.

Should be able to get some sort of incentive but I'm not too sure if it'll be large enough to really justify it. Depends on your location I guess ?

Does the base model come with heated seats as standard? I don't see it mentioned anywhere and when winter comes it gets pretty cold.
