Well, the free update site is finally live... Official Kia Motors Navigation Update Website

Got the installation program for windows and installed.

Then you run it, and you can sign in to the Kia Red program, or others, or continue as a guest, continue as a guest is the way to go.

Then there is another offer to sign up, do it later.

Now you can select your vehicle and download to a flash drive directly from the program, it even indicates that it formats the drive.

Did all that...

Now you are supposed to put the flash drive in the car and use the setup menu... software update... and it should begin updating...

nope, sits there and plays the .wav files that are in the flash... you can see apk files and other stuff, so the next trick is to get it to update.

Sigh.....

I'm downloading it now for my '19 PHEV. I think it's telling me I must use an SD card to update, which I don't have any handy. I really don't want to use the existing card, in case something goes wrong, so I'll look around for another card to use. The downloaded file is a touch over 18 GB, so maybe I'll try the one I have in my Nvidia Shield for increased storage.

OK, I've been trying to download this for the past day. It continually errors out at 85%, always with a message about unable to unzip some files. Why it's trying to unzip stuff before the download is complete is beyond me. And I can't get their messaging system to work either on the update site or the user portal. I've dumped the downloaded files a couple of times, but I'm trying again from scratch, so we'll see if it will succeed this time.

I noticed some times the download is painfully slow, but at night it was a lot faster... lucky you with the SD card, I'm sure it will update for you.... the USB is not working.... did you notice the reminders about using a FAT32 SD card, and not a huge one, like 32 gigs is what I read in several places.

Well, I finally completed the download successfully. Haven't attempted the install yet. I might give it a shot later this afternoon after I've finished teleworking for the day.

What does the update provide?

Is this just for the navigation system?

I can't say. The web site provides no details. But if it's the same update they sell for $30, it's not only maps but also infotainment firmware. Even if it's just maps it's nice they've offered it for free. I didn't even need to enter my VIN.

No clue on what is in the update, I don't think I saw release notes... since the map updates are packaged with other application updates it could be anything. I'm still seeing double translating Korean on the main sites.

OK, found an extra step in the update program, and now I got a completely different set of files.

Put all the files in the root of a 32 gig usb mem stick.

Updated to NAM.13.47.44.680.201

there were 5 updates:
map
system
gps
modem
ucom

Have not explored completely, but some new settings in the menus

I did some test this afternoon, the app is making an forced update on it's own from v1.0.20 to, v1.0.28. Then the USA and Canada selection has been taken of the List for the MAPs and Mutimedia downloads..

So, if you have a Pride, K3 or Niro model, and lives in the South Korean region for maps, this is what you'll get!

Yep, tested today, and the other regions disappeared.... I was lucky to get in before they closed the door.. I would imagine it will be up in a few weeks...

I was able to snag the update (which was newer than what was on the mapnsoft site) before they closed it down. There's a banner now on the mapnsoft site saying there's a new update coming in August.

keep your "snag" because there are no way as we speak to get another one! and this on is more up to date than the one delivered by mapnsoft!

is clearly under construction, and if you catch it right, you can get the install program that works for your region, and then "snag" the download file as I have done. The site was put online at the end of may and it still is not fully functional... sheesh..

2 completely different sites.... and different ways to get the update file...

These updates are only for models that has the kia GPS system included in their trim level.

USA: Ex Premium
Canada: SX (Touring)
UK: Niro 3 & 4

etc..etc..

So if you mean "we" you and me, it's the same site, if you mean "we" all the people on this thread, there are 2 sites, and BOTH are mentioned in this thread, and people do seem confused...

When this happens I go back to the original post and the author for reference...and that is ME! I made the first post and clearly indicated the update.kia site...

I am attentive to other's answers, probably too much! I keep trying to clarify and make statements trying to keep things clear... and keep on the topic at hand, which I started, the update.kia site... NOT mapnsoft
