I am curious if anyone has looked at upgrading the lighting on the EX model to the LED head/fog lights as well as the interior to LEDs which are both on the SX Touring. Is it a bulb switch or would it require a whole new housing? I have done this on other vehicles using aftermarket and would love it on here as I feel the base headlights are a little lacking. Thanks so much!

Headlights should be a bulb switch, type HB3/9005. See owner's manual 8-59-60. Changing headlight bulbs requires at least partially removing the fender liner. Switching to LED headlights often requires re-alignment of the headlight beam, and there is no obvious way to adjust headlight aim from inside the engine bay. This is not something I want to tackle.

Fog lights should already be LED.

Interior lights are all pretty straightforward. See Bulb Wattage chart on page 9-4. LED interior lights are standard on EX Touring, SX, and SX Touring trims.

I switched the bulbs for the headlights, the dome and map lights, the one in the trunk and the license plate lights all for LEDs. Straight forward. Just look up online HOW to change them, or you'll be scratching your head a lot.

Thanks! Are you in a ‘23? If you are happy with it then I would love some manufacturer recommendations for bulbs. Feels insane trying to find out “hack” style videos for the Kia as most posts/videos are just car reviews.

Thanks again!

I went with this brand for interior and outside alights all around:

Look for festoon and wedge bulbs, and check online first how to disassemble the housings.

With the exception of the license plate lights, where I had to get these, because KIA used some weird proprietary assembly:

Should fit the 2023 model too, if you compare the model fit OEM part number these replace.
I could be and might be wrong. I was wrong before that one time. Check with the seller!

These are the bulbs I replaced the halogen bulbs with, plug and play!

Check fit for your model year and trim.

I had a close look at a brand new Niro HEV today, and it looks look to me the license plate lights are probably the same. Didn't want to go disassembling cars work just bought for the couriers, but visually, outwards, they look identical.
Somebody try them out and let the forum know please.
What's the worst that could happen, you'd have to send return them to Amazon for a refund if they don't fit.

I took one of the license plate lights out from my 2023 Niro SX, and there is a T-10 bulb that pushes into a socket. Table on Owner's Manual 9-4 shows 5 Watt for both incandescent or LED. The LED version would be a 168 or 194 T10 W5W LED

Thanks for the link. I notice that there are two styles of 9005/HB3 LEDs. These appear to be the "mini" design, with an L-shaped body and the connector at the bottom. Since I haven't been inside the wheel well, how much room is there?

I only changed the headlight bulbs and those were easily accessible through the engine compartment. On the drivers (port) side removing the lid from the fusebox helps.

The backup lights were a pain. Had to remove a cover on each side to access, which was only accessible from underneath the car. No lift or jack needed, but I had to scootch around the parking lot on my back a bit.

The design is completely different for 2023. Headlights require partially removing wheel well liners.
