My Apple CarPlay stopped working suddenly (well, actually it's been giving me fits for several months, but now it's completely stopped working.) I have shut off the car, reset the car to factory settings several times, I have updated my IOS and restarted my phone. My phone will charge when plugged into the USB port, and the Bluetooth connection is working. But I DEPEND on Apple CarPlay for navigation. So this is a huge issue.
Google searches suggested that perhaps my Kia's firmware is out of date. I haven't updated it since it was purchased, so that is a likely possibility. Currently my car's system says :
SW Ver. DEHEV.USA.SOP.V085.170526
Firmware Ver. DE.USA.258.170516.MICOM.D
The Kia Navigation Updater software says that I will need an SD card, however, my car doesn't have an SD slot, it just has a USB port. So I did purchase a brand new 2.0 USB 32 GB flash drive and made sure to format it to FAT32. I'm currently downloading the update that the Navigator recommended Kia ... Niro 2017-2018 update for the THIRD time.
I go into my car, start it up, and insert the USB drive. I then go to the settings, to the SW info page where you can see the "update" button. But, my car begins to play sound files that are apparently located on the flash drive but when I press the update button it tells me that I need to insert the memory where the update files are located. So, I am at a loss as to how to update my car and how to get my Apple CarPlay to start working again. I have used multiple different USB to C cords and the car will charge my phone but Apple CarPlay just won't initiate.
I've got an Iphone 15 Pro Max, and under the CarPlay setting I thought maybe if I told it to forget my Kia I could reconnect it. But now, CarPlay is circling and it's not finding the car even though my phone is connected via BlueTooth. So if anyone can help, I'd GREATLY appreciate it. The CarPlay setting is selected in the KIA settings.
