Update on my end: ran Car Scanner ELM OBD2 and it picked up two plausible codes:
P0A9400 DCDC performance
U111600 Lost Communication with EWP(Water pump)
Both show as inactive. I also see that older Niros had a TSB for leaking water pump for that code.
I suppose it's plausible the pump is bad and it's overloading the converter.. Will have to bring it in for dealer to see..

I called today for an update. The car needs a "module." I probably won't see it back until after the New Year as they are waiting for the part. I finally went to Costco and filled up the tank for the loaner!

Just heard back about mine. As expected it did not fail there, but it was also a very warm day. They did follow the codes and bled the cooling system from any air. That's what the procedures told them to do. Will see if it fixes things..

I think you might be worrying yourself over nothing. These EV cars today are very critical on what you feed them. Think putting in 86 octane in your V8 454 4 bbl. You'll have some issues.

There's really not much to the charging system of an EV, and any charging issues you've got to start with your charger.

Although you may have paid a lot of money for it, and it worked flawlessly on your other car, most of the chargers sold are nothing more than cheap Chinese junk. Buy a new one, borrow one, try one at the mall, try a Level 1.

Also, if you scan your HEV, PHEV, or EV, you're going to find fault codes all the time. They really don't mean anything until the CEL comes on, or something fails. Then chase your electrons.

In your case, the ICCU you questioned, here it is. To get a look at it, take the 7 screws off your frunk and remove it. It's the entire top of your motor. I don't think the dealer will be changing that out anytime soon.

In the OP case, I think various charges were tried. I hope the OP will update on which "module" was replaced, as there are a few. The charge plug module, and the VCMS are two that I would "guess".

Sorry, can't agree. This is not normal. This is my third EV in five years and the only one to ever just randomly decide not to charge (on a high end charger ChargePoint, as well as a bunch of others). Did quite a bit of debugging/testing on various chargers before dragging it to the dealer. Seems pretty important feature to be wondering if this thing will charge next time I plug it in when it's cold out.
And I did just spend a week reading through KiaTech info to get myself a bit more familiar with the way this thing is designed. Lots of things that can go bad- just take a peek at EV6 forums. They have overheating charge inlets, charge lock not fully engaging etc.
On this one I still think it has something to do with battery preheating as it never fails in warm weather. So the tech bleeding the pump that runs that circuit (and sits of DCDC output) sounds like a good start.

My bad reading comprehension.

Didn't know that you already trouble shot with other charges. Keep updating this thread with info as it's extremely important.

A quick update on my EV wave. The service manager called me today to tell me that they are awaiting a part from Korea. They do not know when it will arrive. He asked the sales manager if they could just give me a new identical car since it's been there longer than I've owned it. We'll have to wait to see what happens. I'm missing my EV even though I've been driving this Acura MDX rental... it's a tank compared to the Wave!

I just looked at the Lemon Law pamphlet they gave me when I purchased the car. I may invoke it, but since this car is a replacement for my Van that I lost in Ian, I have a lot of other things on my plate ... like rebuilding my wrecked home! If I wasn't dealing with a disaster I might try and get my money back, but it's hard to get cars in a disaster zone and I really like the wave.

Update-- My sales representative called today and offered me a new wave to replace mine. I declined. I'd rather wait for my blue EV to get fixed than trade for the white with the gray blade. No ETA for the part yet! I guess I'll just continue to put miles on the rental car!

Same issue. Kia Niro EV with Level 2 charging. Charging unsuccessful, disconnect, reconnect, repeat if necessary until charging started. I have experienced it with different chargers, car unlocked/unlocked, usually car turned off. Outside temperature usually cool to cold, car temperature varied. I have not talked with the dealership yet but will check with them to see if they have heard of the problem and know of a solution. Please keep this thread updated and I will also post if I hear anything. Thanks.

I am yet to see ours fail after the dealer visit, but I've only charged twice and both times car was warm after driving/sitting on for a bit. Both times I plugged in with car off, and it almost immediately started charging without a bunch of preheating pulses. It did have some OBD codes stored- maybe check yours?

I received a call today from my salesperson. He stated that there was no ETA for the part but that there's a Mineral Blue Wave with a dark interior that they can get for me to trade. I told him that I'd take it. Although I like the light colored interior of my car, I'm not inclined to drive this MDX much more. The dark insides is probably better for my two Doodle household anyway...it'll hide the dog drool better!🤣 Maybe I'll get it by Friday!

I think you made a very smart move. Keep updating on how the trade goes.

As for the darker, piano black interior, I'm not a big fan either. There is supposed to be a wood upgrade kit for the interior coming soon. That should break things up a bit.

Sometimes cars are bad right off the assembly line. And you'll never get them to work right. I think you'll be much happier now.

Here's (hopefully) the final update. I picked up my new Mineral Blue Wave with about 200 miles on it for my lemon Blue wave with about 700 miles. They drove it in from the east coast of FL to SW FL where I live. It's charging as you would expect on the level 1 charger that I originally picked up from the dealer the day I got the original car. I'll be sure to update if there's any issues.

Sorry here is an update on my car as the original poster.

My car is still at the dealership. It has been over 2 months now (since Dec 8) and they have not been able to fix the problem. They have given me a Kia Soul as a loaner the entire time. They are awaiting a back ordered ICCU and are going to replace that to see if that fixes the issue.

My case has been escalated and I have not been offered a replacement car yet but they did offer to repurchase the car, or I could wait for the car to be repaired (with no ETA) and a cash payment of my down payment plus car payments I have paid on a car I don't have.
