That question would have to be asked of the tire guy that installed them and obviously, they are on the car so it is OK.
I just know from experience mounting tires that a new tire that is basically as wide as the rim takes some grunt work to mount the top bead.
I'm not discounting your experience but Tire Rack states the rim width range for this tire in this size is 6-7.5"

The 6.5 will work and since you already have ordered, don't worry about it.
I understand the range of 6 - 7.5 and I would love to watch the guy that installs a 215 on a 6" rim (and the tires will look stupid - bulging out like a beer belly)

Just to confirm: those are 6.5 x17 with offset of 42?
Caliper clearance looks good and I don't see the tire sticking out past the fender.
I don't see a pic of the rim face which should show a little ballooning in the sidewall (6.5) but again, that is not a problem. They are installed and look good.
Now I can confidently look for some 17" myself and will not be concerned with 42 offset.

I actually watched the guy install my tires and it did not appear to be a problem. I had them dry fit the rims first too- here is the clearance: View attachment 9722

BTW, that pic is of a rear wheel?
Front caliper clearance is the problem area but I assume you have enough clearance or they would have said something to you.
I am getting 17" rims for my daughter's Seltos (same specs) and I will try 1 of those on the front of my EV before they are installed on her vehicle.
They have to fit but it will be tighter than the alloy.

These are 50 offset as per my other thread (17x6.5 rims, 67.1 CB, 114.3x5 bolt pattern, 50mm offset. (I used 104-0024 from Road Ready wheels) . The wheel is rear here as I was mainly reading about that being an issue. This was my initial try. I then had the tech at the shop try both front and rear before proceeding.
